Give Thanks. Improve Your Health. Improve Your English.

Studies have shown that expressing gratitude is good for you.  You can improve your health, your mood, and your English all at once.  Here's how:


In addition to your daily gratitude list, here's an idea for a page in your ENGLISH MAKES SENSE workBook.

1. Using colored markers or pencils, write the words: THANKS and GRATITUDE at the top of the page.

2. Create a collage of images.  Using GOOGLE or old magazines or newspapers, find images that represent some of the things you are grateful for in your life.  Cut and paste the images on your page.

3. Now think of different ways you can say "thank you" in English.  You can start with:

  • Thank you.
  • Thank you very much.
  • Thanks a lot.
  • Thank you so much.
  • I can't thank you enough.
  • You're the best.

Add your list to the page.

4. Now think of different ways you can show gratitude or thanks.  For example:

  • Make a meal.
  • Listen to a friend or loved one.
  • Write a thank you note by hand.
  • Offer flowers.
  • Give a copy of your favorite book.
  • Give a hug or a hand shake.

Add your list to the page.

5. Finally, add this or any other quote about gratitude and thanks to your page:

Once your page is completed, admire your creation.  You have studied English with your head, your hands, and your heart.
